Akufo-Addo to submit names of new appointees to Parliament today

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will on Thursday, 21 January, 2021, submit to Parliament, the names of proposed Ministers and Regional Ministers for his second term in office.
This is in accordance with the Constitution for the process of their “prior approval for appointment.”
According to a statement issued by the Acting Director of Communications at the Office of the President, Eugene Arhin, on Thursday, 21 January, 2021, the President will appoint a total of 46 Ministers; 30 Sector Ministers and 16 Regional Ministers.
Also, 8 out of the new Ministers to be appointed by the President are women.
Six of the women are Ministers while the other 2 are Regional Ministers.
The statement said:“The President has decided that there will be no Deputy Regional Ministers. At an appropriate date, the President, in accordance with the Constitution, will submit to Parliament the list of all Deputy Minsisters of State for its approval.”
It added: “The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will, on Thursday, 21st January 2021, submit to Parliament the list of proposed Ministers and Regional Ministers of his new government to the Speaker of Parliament for the process of their prior approval for appointment, in accordance with the dictates of the Constitution. In all, President Akufo-Addo will appoint a total of thirty (30) Ministers, and sixteen (16) Regional Ministers, bringing the total number of Ministers to forty-six (46).”
