Asantehene resumes mediation in Bawku conflict today
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will on Monday, December 1, resume his mediation efforts aimed at resolving the long-standing conflict in Bawku.
This follows assurances from President John Mahama that the peace process being led by the Asantehene remains an integral part of national attempts to restore stability to the troubled area.
In a statement, Manhyia Palace confirmed that the mediation sessions will be held from today at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, where key representatives of the factions have begun arriving to engage in dialogue to help bring an end to the disturbances in Bawku.
Meanwhile, Security Analyst Colonel Festus Aboagye (Retired) has urged broader national support for the Asantehene’s intervention.
He stressed the need for a more inclusive peacebuilding approach anchored in multi-track diplomacy.
Colonel Aboagye proposed involving diaspora leaders, youth influencers, and women’s peacebuilding networks to enrich the process and help secure lasting peace.
“Support Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s mediation through multi-track diplomacy, incorporating diaspora leaders, youth influencers, and women’s peacebuilding networks,” he advised.
