Bawumia doesn't deserve a debate: Mahama tells Akufo-Addo
Former President and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has emphatically dismissed calls for a debate with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer.
Mr Mahama asserted that Dr. Bawumia does not deserve the platform to debate him, confidently predicting the Vice President’s defeat in the upcoming elections.
Mr Mahama made these remarks in response to a call by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who urged him to engage in a debate with Dr. Bawumia.
Addressing NDC supporters in Prampram, within the Ningo Prampram Constituency of the Greater Accra Region, Mr Mahama said that instead of debating him, Dr. Bawumia should address the various groups he has failed, including nurses owed allowances, fishermen unable to afford premix fuel, and other struggling artisans.
The former President accused the NPP government of mismanaging the economy, stating that they inherited a "healthy and thriving economy" from the NDC in 2017 but have since led it into ruins.
He further suggested that President Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia should co-author a book on "How to Destroy an Economy," which could serve as a cautionary guide for students in secondary and tertiary institutions.
