Bawumia isn’t vindictive, won’t target those who didn’t support him – Egyapa Mercer
Former Sekondi MP and ex-Tourism Minister, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, has praised Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his fair-minded and inclusive approach following his victory in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary.
Speaking on Tuesday, February 3, Mercer said, “Knowing the person and the relationship I have with Dr Bawumia, he is an open-minded person and fair to all persons.”
He emphasised that the former Vice President is not vindictive and would not take action against party members who did not support him in the flagbearer race.
“He is not a vindictive person, and I am not sure he will go after anyone because the person did not support his bid to lead the party,” Mercer added.
Dr. Bawumia secured 110,643 votes, representing 56.48 per cent of valid ballots, defeating Kennedy Agyapong (23.76%) and Dr. Bryan Acheampong (18.53%), among others, to become the NPP’s flagbearer for the 2028 elections.
Mr Mercer concluded that Bawumia’s inclusive style will be crucial in uniting the party and maintaining strong cohesion ahead of the 2028 general election.
