EC sets April 30 for Ejisu by-election

The Electoral Commission (EC) has declared that the Ejisu by-election in the Ashanti Region will take place on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
The EC announced this during an Inter-Party Advisory Committee meeting held on Tuesday, April 9.
The by-election has become necessary following the passing of the former Member of Parliament (MP) and Deputy Finance Minister, John Kumah, whose death was reported on March 07.
In anticipation of the election, both the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), which currently holds the seat and the main opposition party, have intensified their campaign efforts.
Specifically, the NPP has undertaken preparations by approving nine candidates to participate in a primary election aimed at selecting a candidate to represent the party in the upcoming by-election.
