Eastern Regional NDC women’s wing lauds President Mahama for Awatey's nomination
The Eastern Regional Women’s Wing of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed heartfelt gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama and Vice-President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang for the nomination of Mrs Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey as Eastern Regional Minister.
In a statement signed by Shirley Naana Osei Ampem, Eastern Regional NDC Women’s Organizer, the wing celebrated the appointment as a testament to the party’s unwavering commitment to advancing women’s participation in politics and bridging the gender gap through the implementation of the Affirmative Action Act, 2024.
“This action reflects the NDC’s dedication to empowering women and achieving a society that upholds equality and inclusivity,” the statement said.
The Women’s Wing also expressed confidence that Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey’s appointment would inspire women across the nation and serve as a model for other African countries, reinforcing Ghana’s reputation as a leader in fostering an egalitarian and inclusive society.
“This milestone demonstrates to Africa and the world that Ghana is a beacon of excellence in promoting gender equity and true empowerment,” Shirley Naana Osei Ampem added.
