The Jean Mensa-led Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has acknowledged receipt of "the petition submitted by the National Democratic Congress (NDC)" at the end of the Enough is Enough demonstration.

The demonstration happened yesterday, September 17, 2024, in the capitals of the 16 regions of Ghana.

The EC in a statement signed by its Deputy Chair (Operations), Samuel Tettey, also, assured it would offer a "response in the coming days".

In addition, the election management body informed the public "the process of producing the final register is in its early stages".

In conclusion, the EC issued three assurances:

1. They said they were "mindful that the Voters Register is the bedrock of credible, fair, and transparent elections".

2. They told "the NDC and all stakeholders" they were serious about their "avowed commitment to delivering a credible and robust final register" before the Saturday, December 7, presidential and parliamentary elections.

3. They said, while hard at work to deliver on their mandate, "our doors remain open" as "we look forward to engaging the NDC on their concerns".

Backed by thousands of placard-bearing supporters who took to the street mostly in red clothing, the Enough is Enough demonstration was part of the John Dramani Mahama-led NDC's demand for a forensic audit of the 2024 voters register.

The large turnout underscored the main opposition's serious concerns over alleged discrepancies in the provisional voters register, which the NDC argues could undermine the credibility of the upcoming elections.

NDC leaders have accused the EC of inflating the electoral roll to favour the Dr Mahamudu Bawumia-led governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
