Foreign Affairs Minister engages Ghanaian community in Benin

Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has engaged with the Ghanaian community in Benin as part of a new initiative aimed at fostering direct contact with Ghanaians living abroad.
During the meeting, which forms part of the Minister's outreach programme, the Ghanaian community, numbering over 2,000, had the opportunity to voice their concerns and challenges.
One of the key issues raised was the implementation of the Representation of the People Amendment Law (ROPAL), which would enable them to exercise their right to vote from abroad.
Minister Ablakwa reassured the community of the government’s commitment to addressing their challenges.
He also announced the establishment of a $2 million emergency fund to support Ghanaians living abroad in times of crisis.
The Minister’s visit underscores the government’s dedication to engaging with the Ghanaian diaspora and ensuring that their voices are heard and their needs addressed
