Ghana, Tanzania to establish permanent joint commission for cooperation
President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans by Ghana and Tanzania to establish a Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation aimed at deepening and formalising bilateral relations between the two countries.
The announcement was made on Monday during a bilateral meeting with Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan at the State House in Arusha.
President Mahama disclosed that earlier engagements with Tanzania’s Foreign Minister revealed the absence of a formal joint commission to coordinate cooperation between Ghana and Tanzania.
He noted that both nations are keen to bridge the gap, particularly as discussions are underway toward a possible state visit.
According to him, the creation of the Permanent Joint Commission will provide a structured platform for engagement and establish a clear framework to guide collaboration in key sectors of mutual interest.
The move is expected to enhance diplomatic, economic and technical cooperation between the two African countries.
