Interior Minister opening projects in Asawase

The Member of Parliament for Asawase Constituency and Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, had a busy schedule in the Asawase Constituency on Tuesday, undertaking a series of official engagements spanning entrepreneurship, infrastructure inspection and sports development.

The day began with the launch of the President John Dramani Mahama BizBox initiative, a programme supported by Mastercard Foundation aimed at equipping young people with entrepreneurial skills and providing them with start-up capital to establish their own businesses.

The launch was attended by key local figures, including Hon. Magoo and Hon. Ben Abdallah Alhassan, who assisted the Minister in officially rolling out the initiative in the constituency.

Following the ceremony, the Minister toured several ongoing development projects within the municipality in the company of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asokore Mampong and executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The inspection covered Sakafia Senior High School, Sawaba Health Centre and Park, Asokore Mampong School, Ibadur Rahman Senior High School, Buobai Health Centre, and Mallam Adam Basic School at New Zongo.

In the evening, the Minister opened the Aboabo Multipurpose AstroTurf Park.

The event was attended by the Municipal Chief Executives for Oforikrom and Asokwa.

As part of the celebration, a novelty football match was played between teams representing the Umbrella and the Elephant — symbols of the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) respectively — with the Elephant team emerging victorious on penalties.

Later that night, the Minister proceeded to open another multipurpose AstroTurf facility at the Akurem Highlanders Park.

The opening ceremony featured a football match involving retired players, during which the Minister joined in and showcased his football skills.

The engagements formed part of efforts to promote youth empowerment, improve local infrastructure and encourage community development within the Asawase Constituency.
