MP for Damango disputes President Mahama's claim of reduced government size

Samuel Abdullai Jinapor, the MP for Damango, has raised concerns over the Mahama administration's claim to have reduced the size of the government.

He argued while the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration may have reduced the number of ministers to 60, it had simultaneously increased the number of presidential staffers, effectively increasing the overall size of the government.

Jinapor emphasised the size of President John Mahama’s government should not be solely measured by the number of ministerial appointments, but rather by considering the government's overall structure and personnel.

He spoke on the floor of parliament during the debate on the president's State of the Nation's Address (SONA), which was delivered on Thursday, February 27, 2025.
