Mahama announces return of road contractors after audit clears path

President John Dramani Mahama has revealed that road contractors who abandoned their projects across the country will soon return to the site, following the completion of an audit by the Auditor-General into road contracts awarded under the previous administration.
Speaking during his Thank You Tour in Koforidua, President Mahama said the audit has paved the way for the resumption of vital road works under the government’s flagship Big Push Agenda for infrastructure development.
“The audit has been completed, and we are now in a position to move forward with these critical projects,” the President said.
“Every region will benefit—no community will be left behind.”
He emphasised the government’s commitment to equitable infrastructure development and stressed that roads remain a key priority in driving national growth and regional integration.
President Mahama also issued a firm warning to contractors who may have received payments from both the Road Fund and the Ministry of Finance.
He noted that any contractor found to have engaged in such double-dipping will face sanctions.
“There will be no room for impunity.
Accountability and transparency are pillars of this administration, and anyone found guilty of financial misconduct will be dealt with,” he stated.
