Mahama coming back because Akufo-Addo has failed – Ayariga
President Nana Akufo-Addo’s failure in office is what has made is possible for former President John Mahama to seek a comeback, founder of the All People’s Congress, Mr Hassan Ayariga has said.
He told Kwame Dwomoh-Agyemang in an interview on the Class Morning Show on Friday, 26 April 2024 that Mr Akufo-Addo had wasted the goodwill and hope Ghanaians had in him before he was given the mandate.
“People gave him so much hope and when we were saying that he would not be the best candidate, Ghanaians didn’t believe us and gave President Nana Akufo-Addo the mandate”, he said.
“Eight years down the lane, where are we as a country?” Mr Ayariga wondered.
“Can we say that President Akufo-Addo has performed better than the former president?” he asked.
“The answer is still no, even though I’m not supporting the former president”, Mr Ayariga noted.
In Mr Ayariga’s view, Mr Mahama has found it necessary to seek a comeback because Mr Akufo-Addo has been abysmal in handling the country.
In terms of inflation, the strength of the cedi, and other economic indicators, Mr Ayariga said Mr Akufo-Addo’s government cannot match the performance of Mr Mahama.
