Ghana could be on the verge of a major constitutional shake-up. President John Dramani Mahama has confirmed that the long-awaited final report of the Constitutional Review Committee (CRC) will be submitted to him on December 22.

The committee, led by Prof. H. Kwesi Prempeh, has spent months travelling the country, collecting opinions from citizens on potential changes to Ghana’s 1992 Constitution.

According to Mahama, the findings they shared with him three weeks ago were “quite interesting,” hinting at reforms that could spark nationwide discussions.

The President also weighed in on a hot-button issue currently trending online: the rights of Muslim students in mission schools. He reminded Ghanaians that faith-based schools already have agreements to respect religious diversity and stressed that all students must be treated fairly, regardless of religion.
