Meet Sam George, Minister-designate for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations

In President John Dramani Mahama's latest round of appointments, Samuel Nartey George has been named as the Minister-designate for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations.

The announcement was made in a press release issued by the Acting Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on 21 January 2025.

As the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Mr George will formulate policies and initiatives to advance Ghana’s digital economy.

His role will also drive technological and innovation-focused reforms to ensure the country remains competitive in an increasingly digital global landscape.

This nomination underscores the government’s commitment to prioritising digital transformation and fostering innovation to create new opportunities for economic growth and development.

Honourable Samuel Nartey George, MP, is a third term Member of Ghana’s Parliament.

He holds an MSc in International Strategy & Diplomacy from the London School of Economics, an MA in Conflict, Peace & Security from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, an LLB from the University of London and a BSc. in Agricultural Engineering from KNUST.

He also holds professional certificates in multiple ICT disciplines.

He has previously served as an Assistant Director in the Head of Civil Service Office in Ghana before being appointed Communications Specialist at the Presidency of the Republic of Ghana.

He has also served on the Governing Board of the National Information Technology Agency (NITA).

Sam George is the Deputy Ranking Member of the Communications Select Committee in Ghana’s National Parliament.

He is also a Member of the Public Accounts Committee.

He is the Secretary-General of the African Parliamentary Network on Internet Governance.
