NHIA CEO engages KNUST Medical School and World Child Cancer to strengthen collaboration
Dr Da-Costa Aboagye, Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), has held discussions with key stakeholders aimed at enhancing research collaboration and advancing health initiatives under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
In a recent visit, the Dean of the Medical School of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and several professors met with Dr Aboagye to explore ways to strengthen collaboration, particularly in the area of research.
The discussions focused on integrating research efforts into the Annual Health Check benefits package, which was launched by the NHIA to promote preventive health measures across the country.
Earlier last week, Dr Aboagye also met with representatives from World Child Cancer and their local partners. The meeting centered on the four childhood cancers now covered under the NHIS, reflecting the authority's commitment to improving access to pediatric cancer care in Ghana.
The stakeholders discussed strategies to enhance the support and care provided to children with cancer and how the NHIA can collaborate more effectively with local and international partners to expand the reach of its cancer treatment programmes.
Dr Aboagye emphasised the importance of these partnerships in enhancing healthcare delivery in Ghana, noting continued collaboration with academic and international health organisations will strengthen the NHIA's capacity to meet the evolving health needs of the population.
