NPP, NDC leaders are serving party not Ghana - PLF

The newly-established political party with a provisional licence from the Electoral Commission, known as the People's Liberation Front (PLF), has criticised the leadership of the two major political parties in Ghana, namely the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), for the underdevelopment the country has experienced under their governance.
According to the PLF, both the NPP and NDC have primarily prioritised their party's interests while in government, often neglecting the overall needs of the Ghanaian people.
The interim General Secretary of the PLF, Mr Kwesi Akufo Asa-Awuku, made these allegations against the leadership of the two dominant parties during an interview on the Ghana Yensom morning show hosted by Odehyeeba Kofi Essuman on Accra 100.5 FM on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.
Mr Akufo Asa-Awuku pointed out that while some leaders in other countries have used their time in power to bring about transformative changes, Ghana has not seen the same level of progress despite having had stable democracy for 32 years.
He argued that the focus on serving party interests, rather than the interests of the nation, has hindered Ghana's development.
He mentioned Prof Frimpong Boateng, a prominent surgeon, as an example of someone who tried to prioritise national interests over party interests.
"In the light of these, they are working round the clock to have his image destroyed," he alleged.
The PLF's interim General Secretary called on Ghanaians to give the PLF a chance to lead and bring about a change in the current state of affairs.
He emphasised that the PLF's yet-to-be-unveiled flagbearer, Mr Seth Ntim Agyarko, is prepared to lead the charge for the country's development.
