NPP denies allegations of contract with Ukrainian PR firm for smear campaign

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly denied allegations linking it to a Ukrainian public relations firm, Brandcom, over claims of engaging in a $280,000 online smear campaign.
The allegation, published on AllAfrica.com on July 31, 2025, suggested that the NPP contracted Brandcom to run disinformation campaigns during the 2024 presidential elections.
The article alleged that the PR agency had demanded payment for services rendered in promoting fake social media content and online attacks.
In a swift response issued by the party’s National Communications Directorate, the NPP described the claims as "completely false, baseless, and defamatory."
“The NPP has no contractual relationship—past or present—with any entity known as Brandcom, based in Ukraine or elsewhere,” the statement read.
“At no point did the leadership of the NPP engage, authorise, or instruct any foreign agency to operate fake social media accounts or undertake unethical digital activities.”
The party emphasised its commitment to issue-based campaigning, grounded in integrity, policy, and democratic values.
It rejected what it described as attempts to tarnish its image and create public mistrust.
“This publication is a deliberate attempt to damage the party’s reputation.
We demand an immediate retraction and reserve the right to take legal action against Brandcom and any media outlet that publishes or republishes these unsubstantiated claims,” the NPP warned.
The statement reaffirmed the party’s focus on “building a prosperous Ghana through bold, transparent, and ethical leadership,” and called on the public and media to remain vigilant against misinformation from unverifiable sources.
