Review agenda to ‘reset a whole nation to zero’; build on current gov’t successes – Kofi Tonto

Government spokesperson Kofi Tonto has criticised flagbearer John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for their proposal to ‘reset’ Ghana.
In an interview with Kwame Dwomoh-Agyemang on the Class Morning Show (Class 91.3 FM), Thursday, September 5, 2024, Tonto argued the nation was not a handset to be ‘reset’ with at the push of a button.
Tonto contended former President Mahama’s agenda to ‘reset’ Ghana was an attempt at a complete overhaul of the nation, irrespective of successes chalked by President Akufo-Addo. He highlighted the Free Senior High School (FSHS) policy of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) as one of said successes impacting millions of young people.
The entrepreneur stressed the importance of identifying and solving specific issues rather than pursuing what he viewed as an impractical ‘reset’.
“John Dramani Mahama says he’s going to rest Ghana. A nation is an amalgamation of many things, positives [and] negatives; challenges [and] successes.
“A nation is not an iPhone to be reset. You [must] fix the challenges and build on the successes.
“You cannot reset an entire nation. Are you going to reset the 5.7 million young people who have benefited from Free SHS? What are you going to reset? You [rather must] identify the challenges and solve them.
“You can’t reset a whole nation to zero,” Kofi Tonto said.
