The Tano North Communications Department of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ahafo Region has criticised the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tano North Constituency, Dr. Gideon Boako, accusing him of political deception regarding the Duayaw Nkwanta–Bomaa road project.

According to the party’s communications team, a viral video circulating on social media shows Dr. Boako appealing to President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC government to construct the Duayaw Nkwanta–Bomaa road.

Speaking at a press conference in Dormaa, the Deputy Communication Officer for Tano North, Kwame Osea Boateng, described the MP’s comments as “political mischief.”

He argued that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had been in power for eight years yet failed to complete the road, despite Dr. Boako serving as Economic Advisor to the then Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia during the period.

Mr. Boateng further noted that the NDC administration began the construction of the road in 2016, but work stalled when the NPP assumed office.

He added that although sod-cutting ceremonies were held for the same project in 2020 and 2024, no substantial work has been done.

He assured residents that the next NDC government, under President John Dramani Mahama, will resume and complete the project as part of the Big Push Infrastructure Programme.

Meanwhile, the Assembly Member for Bomaa-Asikesu, Bajar Bisuma Kwame, also criticised the MP, claiming that Dr. Boako has not visited the Assembly this year and therefore could not have made requests for District Roads Improvement Programme machines as alleged.

He appealed to residents of Bomaa and surrounding communities to remain calm and trust that the government has plans underway to address their road concerns.
