UE/R: Mahama promises Bawku ultramodern market
The presidential candidate of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr John Dramani Mahama, has said he will build an ultramodern market for the people of Bawku to afford traders a better place to do business if re-elected in the upcoming 7 December general elections.
Mr Mahama made the promise at a mini-rally in Bawku, as part of a 4-day campaign tour of the Upper East Region.
He, therefore, urged the people of Bawku and the Upper East Region to vote for him and the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for Bawku Central, Mr Mahama Ayariga to enable him to fulfil his promise to the constituency and implement the good policies of the party.
He further promised to give the people of Bawku an ultramodern district hospital.
Prior to the 2016 polls, Mr Mahama made the same promise to the people of Bawku.
However, the party lost.
“But I know that come December 7, NDC is going to win the election, and I am making that promise again that, we are going to build a brand new district hospital here in Bawku”.
“And, when we say it, we mean it, because we have done it before. We have built hospitals before,” the former president said.
Mr Mahama also emphasised that the NDC, if voted back into government, will ensure that all communities without electricity are connected to the national grid.
“There are many communities that we were connecting to the national electrification grid, we didn’t finish before we left office. As soon as we left office, all that came to a standstill,” he said.
“I promise you that NDC is coming back to power and for all the communities that don’t have electricity, we will come and extend electricity to you.’
He added: “When we were in office, we started building the Tamne Irrigation Dam, we didn’t finish before we left office. After we left that project has come to a standstill, and that project was supposed to irrigate 3,000 hectares of land for dry season irrigation farming,” he said.
