Unparliamentary conduct: Speaker pledges strict enforcement of rules

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has strongly condemned what he described as "unparliamentary conduct" directed at Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Member of Parliament for Korle Klottey in the Greater Accra Region.
Addressing the House, Speaker Bagbin expressed profound disappointment over the incident and called on all Members of Parliament to uphold mutual respect and dignity in their interactions.
“I am very, very disappointed,” the Speaker said, visibly disturbed by the turn of events. “We cannot allow this kind of behaviour to persist in this House.”
He confirmed that a formal report on the matter would be compiled and appropriate sanctions pursued.
“I will go the full length to implement the law,” he warned, signalling his resolve to enforce the rules of Parliament without fear or favour.
Speaker Bagbin further urged MPs to treat each other with respect and to work in unity, noting that Parliament should serve as a model of civility and cooperation for the nation.
“Let’s operate as a family and draw from our collective experiences to maintain decorum in this House,” he added.
