The Chairman of the Vehicles and Assets Dealers Union of Ghana (VADUG), Bernard Ntrakwa, has called on the Minister for Trade and Agribusiness, Elizabeth Agyare, to enhance her engagement with stakeholders amid growing concerns in the vehicular sector.

In an interview with Class 91.3 FM Mr. Ntrakwa expressed disappointment over what he described as a decline in the Minister’s interactions with industry players.

While he initially welcomed her appointment and had high expectations, he noted that her recent conduct has raised concerns among stakeholders.

According to the VADUG Chairman, the Minister’s relationship with key industry actors has weakened, with minimal consultation on critical issues affecting the sector.

He alleged that efforts by the union to engage the Ministry have been largely ignored, claiming that the Minister has “shut her doors” to industry stakeholders, limiting access to important information.

Mr. Ntrakwa revealed that the union has sent multiple letters to the Ministry to highlight concerns and provide sector updates, but has yet to receive any response.

He warned that if the situation continues, it could have serious consequences and may even prompt calls for her removal from office by the President.

Several other industry players have reportedly raised similar concerns, criticising the Minister’s limited collaboration with experts in the local vehicular sector.

As tensions grow, stakeholders are urging the Ministry of Trade and Agribusiness to reopen communication channels and strengthen partnerships with industry actors to address ongoing challenges and foster growth in the sector.
