What has Bawumia’s paperless port brought to revenue mobilisation – Nukpenu
The Greater Accra Regional Organiser of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anthony Nukpenu, has attributed the snail pace of activities at the country’s entry ports to the introduction of the paperless system by Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as part of his digitalisation drive.
"The ports today are more or less like ghost towns," he posited.
He raised questions about how much money the paperless system has raised since its introduction.
''If the paperless system has bought anything, it's the redundancy of the young men who were plying their daily trade at ports," he said.
Mr Nupkenu threw this jab at the Vice President while reacting to news that an NPP group has picked nomination forms for the Vice President to contest the NPP’s flagbearership race.
Mr Nukpeknu spoke as a panellist on the discussion segment on the Ghana Yensom morning show hosted by Odehyeeba Kofi Essuman on Accra 100.5 FM on Monday, May 29, 2023.
He said the vice president as a presidential candidate on the ticket of the NPP will be judged by the exploits of his paperless system at the ports.
