Zongo Chiefs President urges Muslim support for Bawumia in upcoming election
The President of the Council of Zongo Chiefs in the Ashanti region, Alhaji Musa Akanbonga, has stated that it would be a disgrace to Muslims if they do not vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to become President.
He called on all Muslims to unite and support the Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming December 7 elections.
Dr. Bawumia garnered 61 percent of the votes in the NPP Presidential primaries, but Alhaji Akanbonga believes that Muslims who voted for him might not be more than 11 percent.
He noted that the majority of the delegates were Christians, who still voted for Dr. Bawumia after considering that the Qur'an aligns with the Bible.
Alhaji Akanbonga emphasized that it would be disgraceful if Christians voted for Bawumia while Muslims did not support him in the fast-approaching general elections.
He made these remarks during a meeting between the Vice President and NPP flagbearer with the Ashanti regional Zongo Chiefs and Imams as part of his campaign tour of the region.
