Zumunta coordinator urges Asantes to support Alan Kyerematen over Bawumia in 2024 elections
Mr. Bala Salifu Maikankan, National Coordinator of the Zongo Wing for Alan, also known as Zumunta for Alan, has called on the Asante community to back their "own son," Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, in the upcoming presidential election rather than supporting Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer.
Mr Maikankan, a former National Chairman of the People's National Congress (PNC), stirred controversy by describing Asantes who chose to vote for Dr. Bawumia as not just “meat” but "cattle meat" (beef).
He accused Dr. Bawumia and his supporters of engaging in divisive religious and tribal politics, particularly in Zongo communities, where they are reportedly campaigning based on Bawumia's Zongo and Muslim heritage.
Addressing supporters of the Movement for Change after a major campaign walk in Kumasi, Mr Maikankan urged Asantes to rally behind Alan Kyerematen, who is also an Asante, emphasizing the importance of supporting their own candidate.
He used harsh language to criticize those who would vote for Dr. Bawumia, describing such individuals as "cattle meat."
During the same event, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen outlined his vision for the country, stressing that Ghana does not need just another manifesto, but a comprehensive master plan for development.
He presented his Great Transformational Plan (GTP), which he said would guide Ghana toward stability, resilience, and prosperity.
Mr Kyerematen urged Ghanaians to entrust him with the mandate in the upcoming general elections, promising that the GTP would move the country from instability to long-term prosperity.
