Margins Group trains NIA staff on ethics to strengthen National ID system
The Margins Group has conducted a two-day Governance and Compliance Training for staff of the National Identification Authority (NIA) aimed at reinforcing ethical standards and accountability in managing Ghana’s national identity infrastructure.
The sessions, led by the Deputy Chief Executive of the Margins Group, Kakara Baiden, focused on the responsibilities that come with handling sensitive citizen data, emphasising integrity, responsible access, and the importance of speaking up when standards are compromised.
“Building a trusted national identity system requires more than technology. It requires the right governance culture,” the Deputy CEO noted during the training.
He added that trust in institutions managing identity systems is earned through consistent, ethical practices.
As technical partners on the Ghana National ID Project, the facilitators highlighted the need for a strong ethical culture as the foundation of a reliable and secure digital identity ecosystem.
The training is part of ongoing efforts to ensure that the management of citizens’ data is guided by transparency, accountability, and professional responsibility, thereby strengthening public confidence in Ghana’s digital identity systems.
