Margins ID Group emerges as Africa’s leading provider of certified digital identity solutions
As digital identity systems expand across Africa, the need for secure, compliant, and interoperable infrastructure has never been greater.
Ghana’s Margins ID Group is positioning itself at the forefront of this transformation, offering governments, financial institutions, and development partners a fully certified and trusted platform for identity and payment systems.
Founded in 1990, Margins ID Group has evolved from a print and document finishing company into a comprehensive provider of identity and access solutions, spanning physical and digital platforms.
Over 35 years, the company has amassed one of the continent’s most extensive certification portfolios, covering quality management, information security, cybersecurity, business continuity, and high-security document production.
Compliance and Certification at the Core
At the group level, Margins maintains three foundational international certifications:
ISO/IEC 20000:2018 – IT service management and incident response
ISO/IEC 27001:2022 – Information security management
ISO 22301:2019 – Business continuity management
“These certifications ensure that critical identity infrastructure is managed securely, data is protected, and services can withstand disruptions,” said a company spokesperson.
Domestic Production of High-Security Credentials
Margins’ manufacturing arm, Intelligent Card Production Systems (ICPS), provides Africa’s first domestic production of secure identity cards, payment cards, and government documents.
ICPS is the only West African facility to hold ISO 14298:2022 for security printing at the government level and is certified by Mastercard, Visa, and Europay to produce high-security payment cards.
ICPS also operates under international standards for quality management (ISO 9001), information security (ISO/IEC 27001:2022), business continuity (ISO 22301:2019), and IT service delivery (ISO/IEC 20000:2018), making it a fully compliant African alternative to overseas card production.
The facility has been instrumental in the rollout of the widely used Ghana Card.
Cybersecurity and Digital Identity Platforms
Margins’ technology subsidiary, Margins ID Systems Applications Limited (MIDSA), manages digital identity platforms, biometric verification systems, and secure databases.
It holds certifications including CREST Pathway+, CSA Cybersecurity Establishment (Ghana), and CSA Cybersecurity Service Provider (Ghana), giving regulators and institutions confidence in the safety and integrity of digital identity systems.
Meeting Africa’s Growing Compliance Needs
With digital identity programmes being rolled out faster than regulatory frameworks can adapt, stakeholders are increasingly demanding verifiable compliance.
Margins’ certifications and proven capabilities provide governments, banks, telecommunications companies, and development partners with a trusted partner capable of delivering secure, resilient, and standards-aligned solutions.
“As Africa accelerates its digital identity ambitions, Margins ID Group offers a model of trust, compliance, and local capability,” the company noted.
“We are ready to support interoperable systems under the African Continental Free Trade Area and contribute to Sustainable Development Goal 16.9: Legal Identity for All.”
A Continental Platform for the Future
Margins ID Group’s decades-long investment in security, compliance, and high-quality production positions it as a leader in Africa’s digital identity ecosystem.
With verified expertise across secure document production, cybersecurity, and business continuity, the company provides the foundation for scalable, trustworthy, and interoperable digital identity systems across the continent.
This combination of compliance, local production, and technology innovation marks Margins ID Group as a key enabler of Africa’s digital transformation, setting standards for identity infrastructure across the continent.
