Black Stars guaranteed at least $13.5m after reaching World Cup Round of 32
The Black Stars of Ghana have secured at least $13.5 million in FIFA prize money after progressing to the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The four-time African champions advanced after finishing third in Group L with four points from three matches.
FIFA has allocated a record $871 million in total team payments for the tournament, comprising $655 million in performance-based prize money, $120 million in preparation funding, and additional support costs.
All participating teams receive $2.5 million in preparation funding. Teams eliminated at the group stage earn $10 million in performance payments, bringing a minimum total of $12.5 million.
By reaching the Round of 32, Ghana is guaranteed at least $13.5 million, which includes the preparation fee and $11 million for reaching the first knockout round.
Earnings increase with each stage of the competition: $15 million for the Round of 16, $19 million for the quarter-finals, $27 million for fourth place, $29 million for third place, $33 million for runners-up, and $50 million for the winners. These figures exclude preparation funding.
Ghana will face Colombia in the Round of 32 on Saturday, July 4, at the Kansas City Stadium.
The 2026 tournament is the first World Cup to feature 48 teams and a Round of 32 stage, introducing an additional knockout round and revised prize structure.
