Black Stars squad for Asian tour to be announced by weekend, GFA says
The Black Stars squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Japan and South Korea will be announced by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) by the end of this week.
“Tentatively, we are looking at the end of this week or the weekend to confirm who will be in the squad and the full complement of the team,” GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum told Joy Sports.
Ghana's Asian tour is in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Asante Twum added that an advance team will fly to Japan from Accra on Friday, followed by the rest of the technical staff.
“I don’t know yet if there will be local players. Depending on their number, they will hopefully travel on Sunday to Japan. We will then receive the players after their respective matches on Tuesday,” he further said.
The Black Stars will play Japan on November 14. They take on South Korea on November 18.
The outcome of the matches will show the Otto Addo-led team's World Cup readiness, as they make a fifth appearance at the global showpiece.
