Boateng, Taylor seal victory for Karela United against Elmina Sharks
Karela United on Sunday, kept their home record intact as they overcame an early scare to beat Elmina Sharks 3-1 at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park at Anyinase.
The win takes them back to the top of the Ghana Premier League table. Elmina Sharks drew the first blood through experienced midfielder James Bissue, after driving in a ferocious strike from a free-kick in the 15th minute.
But the hosts leveled things up ten minutes later through Richard Berko following a commanding spell. Sharks were resilient to ensure they went into the break with the score line at 1-1.
Back from recess, Karela United coach Evans Adotey made changes to his side in the second half as the home side chased victory.
They brought on Kwame Boateng for Samuel Ofori and Darlington Fosu for Obed Kofi and it paid off immediately as Kwame Boateng netted the second goal for Karela United with a brilliant strike in the 84th minute.
Karela United were then awarded a penalty that was expertly converted by striker Diawisie Taylor in the 91st minute to put the game to bed.
The win sends Karela United back to the top of the table with Sharks going on a three-game losing streak.
