Felix Gyan returns to Black Stars after two years absence

Felix Afena-Gyan has earned a recall to the Ghana national team for the upcoming 2025 Unity Cup in London, marking his return to the Black Stars after nearly two years. Head coach Otto Addo named the young striker in a 23-man squad that also includes returning players like Abdul Samed Salis of Sunderland and Anderlecht midfielder Majeed Ashimeru.
Afena-Gyan’s inclusion follows a strong season with Juventus Next Gen, where he netted 10 goals and impressed enough to earn training time with the senior team.
His resurgence has caught the attention of national team selectors ahead of a competitive tournament.
The Unity Cup features Ghana, Nigeria, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago.
Ghana is set to face Nigeria on Wednesday, May 28, at the GTech Community Stadium in West London.
The winner will progress to the final, scheduled for Saturday, May 31.
The tournament serves as a key part of Ghana’s preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali later this year.
