Former Black Stars player Kwasi Owusu passes on
Former Black Stars player Kwasi Owusu has passed on.
This comes less than 24 hours after the demise of former teammate and one- time Black Stars team manager, Opoku Afriyie.
The former bulky striker died Monday at the age of 72.
Mr Owusu was the second all-time leading top scorer for the Black Stars with 36 goals.
“Another legend has left us - Kwasi Owusu. You played a big part in the history of the Ghanaian game. May the Almighty God give you eternal rest. Rest in Peace Legend," GFA President Kurt Okraku wrote on Monday morning.
The late footballer captained the Black Stars for more than 10 years.
He was part of the 1968 and 1970 squads that lost the finals to Congo Kinshasa and host nation Sudan, respectively, scoring four goals.
In the 1970 African Cup of Nations, he scored five goals in the first leg and four goals in the return encounter against Niger in Niamey in 1969.
