GFA commiserates with family of slain Kotoko devotee, Pooley

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has visited the family of the slain Asante Kotoko supporter, Francis Yaw Frimpong, alias Pooley, to commiserate with them.
Pooley was stabbed and succumbed to his injuries yesterday, Sunday, February 2, 2025, during violent disturbances when Nsoatreman FC played a home-game against Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC at the Nana Koronamansah Park, Nsoatre, Bono Region.
According to a statement by GFA on ghanafa.org, Mr Fred Acheampong, an ExCo member, led a GFA delegation to visit the family in Kumasi, where they were joined by the Regional Football Association (RFA) leadership in the Ashanti Region.
“In light of the incident, the GFA has postponed the Ghana Premier League Match day 20 fixtures,” the statement continued.
“The GPL Club CEOs have been invited to a meeting at the GFA headquarters on Thursday, February 6, 2025, to discuss the way forward,” it explained, also.
“Furthermore, the leadership of supporters groups of all GPL clubs have been invited to a meeting on Friday, February 7, 2025, to discuss their role in promoting safety and responsible fan behavior,” the statement said.
“The GFA has also invited the Police High Command to collaborate on tackling the criminal aspects of the incidents witnessed at Nsoatre.”
GFA expatiated, “This partnership aims to ensure that those responsible for the violence are brought to justice and that measures are put in place to prevent similar incidents in the future and to uphold the integrity of the beautiful game.”
