GFA confirms departure of Black Queens head coach Nora Häuptle
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially announced the departure of Nora Häuptle as head coach of the Black Queens following the expiration of her contract on December 31, 2024.
In a statement, the GFA expressed its appreciation for Häuptle’s commitment and the impactful contributions she made to the Black Queens and women’s football development in Ghana during her two-year tenure.
The GFA disclosed that renewal discussions began as early as June 2024, offering Häuptle improved salary terms and better working conditions.
However, the two parties could not reach a mutual agreement, leading to her exit.
During her tenure, Häuptle achieved a significant milestone by leading the Black Queens to qualify for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), scheduled to be held in Morocco.
This accomplishment has been a source of pride for Ghanaian football fans.
The GFA assured supporters that plans are already in motion to appoint a new head coach for the team, with an announcement expected soon.
Following her departure from Ghana, Häuptle has been appointed as the head coach of Zambia’s Copper Queens.
She has signed a three-year contract with the Zambian Football Association, marking the next chapter in her coaching career.
The GFA’s statement emphasized its commitment to building on the progress made under Häuptle’s leadership as the Black Queens prepare for future competitions.
