Injured Salisu left out of Monaco’s Champions League squad, blow for Ghana
AS Monaco have excluded Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu from their UEFA Champions League squad, after a major injury.
The French club, who are preparing for a playoff clash against champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), will head into the fixture without the Black Stars centre-back, prompting adjustments to their registered squad.
Monaco also left out Paul Pogba and Takumi Minamino due to fitness issues, with Krepin Diatta, Wout Faes and Simon Adingra drafted in as replacements.
Salisu sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury that has ruled him out for the rest of the campaign, leaving the club with no option but to remove him from the European squad list.
He is expected to return to action next season.
Salisu has so far featured 17 times for Monaco across Ligue 1 and the Champions League, contributing one goal. He joined the club from Southampton in 2023.
The 26-year-old's injury is also a major setback for Ghana, as it sidelines the defender from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, denting the national team’s plans ahead of the tournament.
