'My primary target is to qualify Ghana to World Cup; I’m staying' – Milo, after Black Stars' early Afcon exit
Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac has said his primary target is to qualify Ghana for the World Cup after the team’s early exit from the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Ghana suffered a 3-2 defeat to Afcon debutant Comoros in their last Group C game on Tuesday night, 18 January 2022.
Ghana, uncharacteristically, picked just a point in three games and finished last in the group, compromising Morocco, Gabon and Comoros.
Speaking to the media after the game, Rajevac insisted he would remain on the job and lead the team to play the 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifiers.
Rajevac told the media: "I came to Ghana to qualify the team for the World Cup. That is my primary target. I will stay and lead the team in the March playoffs.”
Meanwhile, some Ghanaians are calling on the Ghana Football Association to fire Rajevac.
This is the worst performance of the Black Stars in the history of the Afcon in which the team played three games without a win.
