See groups, fixtures for CAF's 2024 Beach Soccer AFCON
For the 2024 Beach Soccer African Cup of Nations (AFCON), Ghana is in Group A.
The draw results were announced today, Thursday, September 19.
The organisers, Confederation of African Football (CAF), made the announcement via X.
Ghana beat its western neighbour Ivory Coast 10-5 on aggregate to qualify for the tournament.
In Group A, Ghana plays against Egypt, Morocco and Tanzania.
The national male beach soccer team for Ghana is called Black Sharks. The team will begin their campaign facing Egypt on October 19; Morocco on October 21; then go up against Tanzania on October 22.
In Group B are reigning champion Senegal, Mozambique, Malawi, and Mauritania.
Egypt, North Africa, is the host for the 2024 Beach Soccer African Cup of Nations (AFCON). The action takes place in Cairo next month.
The CAF Beach Soccer competition was first played in 2015 in Roche Caiman, Seychelles, where Madagascar won. The games were first held in Egypt in 2018, Senegal winning.
Senegal is by far the most successful nation with four CAF Beach Soccer AFCON titles.
Ghana makes their third appearance at the games this year, having only qualified for the 2015 and 2016 editions. The Black Sharks will hope to break the group stage jinx this time around.
