Support Ayew as Black Stars captain – Malik Jabir
Retired Ghanaian football Striker, Malik Jabir has called on Ghanaians to support the decision of Coach C.K Akonnor to maintain Andre Dede Ayew as Captain of the Black Stars, Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey as the vice-captain and Maritzburg goalkeeper Richard Ofori as the second vice-captain.
“Let’s leave it this way and support the official’s decision and support the team,” Malik Jabir stated.
In an interview with Class Sports, he said Ayew has tasted the captaincy before and thinks he will amend and correct a lot of things.
The trio will lead the team as the Black Stars go through the remaining Africa Cup of Nation qualifiers as well as the qualifying games for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and subsequent tournaments.
The retired footballer eulogised Ayew on his new role and admonished him to be the coach on the pitch and play well.
“Ayew has learnt his lessons and knows he got to demonstrate that he is representing the team when it comes to problems and hindrances at management meetings,” he stated.
