ECG warns against bushfires near electricity poles in Volta Region
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has issued a strong warning to the public, particularly farmers and hunters, to desist from indiscriminate bush burning, as it poses a serious threat to electricity infrastructure in the Volta Region.
Speaking to Ho FM's news, the Volta and Oti Regional Public Relations Officer of ECG, Madam Eunice Tweneboah-Kodua, emphasized the need for public collaboration to curb the rising cases of bushfires near electricity poles.
She noted that the frequent fires have severely impacted the company’s power supply operations, making it difficult to ensure a stable electricity supply in affected areas.
Madam Tweneboah-Kodua highlighted some of the most affected communities, including:
Tanyigbe Etoe Adaklu Agortime Mafi Kumasi (Central Tongu)These areas have experienced serious damage to ECG poles and infrastructure due to bushfires.
