Finance Minister inaugurates technical committees to boost agriculture financing and crop productivity

The Minister of Finance, Dr. Ato Forson, has inaugurated three Technical Committees as part of the government’s strategy to strengthen agriculture financing and enhance productivity in key economic crops.
The committees, which cover Agriculture Financing, Oil Palm, and Cocoa, are expected to design policy frameworks and practical interventions to improve access to financing and drive growth in the sector.
Agriculture Financing CommitteeDr. Forson announced that the Technical Committee on Agriculture Financing has been given a three-week mandate to develop a comprehensive policy framework that will support financing for strategic crops.
The committee is composed of officials from the Ministry of Finance, the Bank of Ghana, GIRSAL, EXIM Bank, and the Development Bank of Ghana. Members include:

Dr. Forson said the inauguration of the committees underscores the government’s determination to create a robust financing system for agriculture, promote value addition, and ensure the sustainable development of cash crops that are vital to Ghana’s economy.
He expressed confidence that the committees will deliver actionable recommendations that will support farmers, boost exports, and strengthen Ghana’s position in global agricultural markets.
