Fintech is at the heart of Mahama's government, says Sam George

Samuel Nartey George, the Minister nominee for Communications, Digitalisation and Innovation, has asserted that financial technology (fintech) is central to the vision of President John Dramani Mahama’s government.
He highlighted the administration’s commitment to leveraging digital financial services to drive economic growth and financial inclusion.
Speaking during his vetting by the Appointments Committee on Thursday, January 30, Mr George underscored the crucial role fintech plays in modern governance and economic transformation.
He emphasised that the government would prioritise policies that enhance digital payments, financial accessibility, and innovation in the sector.
“Fintech is at the heart of Mahama’s government. We recognise the transformative power of digital financial services in driving economic development and ensuring financial inclusion for all,” he stated.
He further assured that the government would create an enabling environment for fintech companies to thrive while ensuring stringent regulatory oversight.
Mr George reiterated that under President Mahama’s leadership, Ghana would embrace digital innovation to enhance financial transactions, reduce cash dependency, and promote economic efficiency.
He pledged to work closely with stakeholders to ensure that fintech solutions benefit all segments of society, particularly underserved communities.
