The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has held talks with H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), on ways to strengthen Africa’s economic integration and industrialisation agenda.

Ghana, which proudly hosts the AfCFTA Secretariat in Accra, reaffirmed its commitment to continue guaranteeing all privileges and courtesies necessary for the effective functioning of the Secretariat.

Highlighting the significance of the continental trade agreement, Mr Ablakwa noted that the AfCFTA, first envisioned by Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, remains central to Africa’s quest for industrialisation and transformation.

“With a market of 1.3 billion people and a combined GDP of US$3.4 trillion, leveraging the AfCFTA is not just an option but an absolute imperative as we prioritise economic diplomacy,” the Minister stated.
