The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Dr. Mary Awusi, on May 14, 2025, embarked on a familiarisation tour of two Free Zone Enterprises as part of efforts to deepen engagement with licensed operators and better understand their operations and challenges.
The visit took Dr. Awusi and her delegation to Eco-Trade Limited, a commercial enterprise specialising in alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and Wahu Mobility Limited, a women-led electric bicycle assembly facility focused on sustainable transportation solutions.
At Eco-Trade Limited, the CEO was received by Managing Director Mr. Wissam Raad, who explained that the company uses Ghana as a strategic transit hub for exporting its products to other African markets under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
At Wahu Mobility, Chief Financial Officer Ms. Abena Baidoo highlighted the company’s mission to offer end-to-end connectivity solutions and empower a new generation of mobility entrepreneurs across Ghana and beyond.
In her remarks, Dr. Awusi commended both enterprises for their contributions to Ghana’s economic development and reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to supporting their expansion efforts.
She gave special recognition to Wahu Mobility for its innovative approach and women-led leadership, describing it as a model for inclusive industrial growth.
Dr. Awusi also reminded the enterprises of the importance of complying with the regulations of the Free Zones Authority to ensure sustained growth and credibility within the sector.
"The Authority remains committed to creating a business-friendly environment that allows Free Zone Enterprises to thrive and contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s export-led industrialisation agenda," she said.
