GPHA and Israeli Ambassador discuss port modernisation and trade cooperation
The meeting, held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, focused on leveraging technology, infrastructure development, and enhanced trade collaboration to improve efficiency at Ghana’s major ports.
Discussions also centred on GPHA’s strategic vision to position the Port of Tema as a leading container hub in West Africa, while transforming the Port of Takoradi into a key oil and gas services hub for the sub-region.
Ambassador Gilad commended the rapid expansion and growing strategic importance of the Port of Tema, describing it as a vital gateway for Ghana and neighbouring landlocked countries such as Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger.
He noted that the port plays a critical role in regional trade facilitation and economic integration across West Africa.
Both parties expressed optimism about deepening cooperation in areas including innovation, security systems, and operational efficiency to further modernise port operations.
