GWYESCO project launched to boost youth and women entrepreneurship
The project was launched at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel by Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, who underscored the importance of empowering women and youth to drive economic growth and job creation.
The launch brought together key development partners and implementing institutions, including the Social Investment Fund and the African Development Bank, both of which pledged support for the successful implementation of the initiative.
Representing the Social Investment Fund, Chief Executive Officer Abass Nurudeen reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to the project, describing it as a strategic intervention aimed at strengthening economic inclusion and entrepreneurship.
The National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), one of the key implementing partners, led its Chief Executive Eric Adjei, also pledged its full support for the initiative.
Speaking at the launch, NEIP indicated that it would play a central role in delivering the project’s core components through structured business incubation programmes, digital skills training, and the creation of critical business-to-business (B2B) linkages for beneficiaries.
The programme will also leverage existing entrepreneurship initiatives, including the Adwumawura and SEED programmes, to expand market access, promote innovation, and support the growth of small businesses.
Stakeholders noted that the project is expected to create sustainable employment opportunities, strengthen entrepreneurial capacity, and improve economic prospects for women and youth across Ghana.
