Ghana Gas dismisses reports of leadership rift, cites operational gains and staff promotions initiative
Ghana National Gas Company Limited (Ghana Gas) has rejected reports circulating on social media alleging a rift between its Chief Executive Officer, Judith Adjobah Blay, and the Board of Directors chaired by Kofi Totobi Quakyi.
In a statement issued on June 6, 2026, the company described the reports as false and said they were intended to create the impression of conflict within the leadership of the organisation.
According to Ghana Gas, the relationship between the Board and Management is based on mutual respect, professionalism, trust and a shared commitment to achieving the company's strategic objectives.
The company said claims of infighting or division within its leadership are unfounded and should be disregarded.
Ghana Gas also addressed concerns surrounding recently announced staff promotions, which it said had been misrepresented in sections of the media.
Management explained that the promotions affected 50 employees and formed part of an ongoing exercise aimed at addressing delayed promotions, career progression and divisional realignment within the company.
According to the statement, the promotions followed extensive consultations and deliberations by management with the oversight and support of the Board of Directors.
The company further rejected claims that it was experiencing operational challenges, stating that it continues to record positive results.
It noted that production throughput has increased from an average of 100 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCF/D) to about 120 MMSCF/D, a development it said has strengthened fuel supply to downstream consumers, enhanced energy security and supported stability in the power sector.
Ghana Gas also said improvements in plant availability and operational efficiency under the current Board and Management have contributed to moderating fuel costs for power producers and industrial users.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Board to promote transparency, accountability, good corporate governance and operational excellence while pursuing its strategic objectives.
The statement was signed by the Head of Corporate Affairs, Richard Kirk-Mensah.
