Ghana Tourism Authority launches maiden Accra-Atlanta flight
The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has launched the maiden edition of the Accra-Atlanta flight, a move aimed at boosting tourism and economic growth in the country.
The launch event, held at the airport, was attended by key stakeholders in the tourism industry.
Maame Efua Houadjeto, the Chief Executive Officer of GTA, expressed her excitement about the launch, stating that it will make it easier for visitors from Atlanta and surrounding cities to travel to Ghana.
"This is a fantastic initiative for us. We have so many people who come from Atlanta and the cities around Atlanta coming to Accra, but because they only had to go to New York, it was such a trip for them.
Now they've made it easier for us, and they've made it easier for our visitors," she said.
Madam Houadjeto credited the success of the launch to the relentless efforts of GTA in promoting Ghana abroad, citing events like December in GH, Debt to December, and the High Life Festival, among others.
She urged everyone to take advantage of the new flight and experience Ghana's rich culture, warm hospitality, and beautiful destinations.
The launch of the Accra-Atlanta flight is expected to increase tourism and trade between Ghana and the United States, with Delta Airlines operating two flights a day from Atlanta to Accra.
Madam Houadjeto expressed her gratitude to Delta Airlines for their partnership and commitment to promoting Ghana as a tourist destination.
When asked about the cancellation of flights after 13 years, Madam Houadjeto explained that the previous flights were not getting full capacity, and the new flight will provide a more convenient and direct route for customers.
