Ghana signs seventh bilateral Debt Restructuring Agreement with Czech Republic

Ghana has signed its seventh bilateral debt restructuring agreement, this time with the Czech Republic, marking another significant step in the country’s ongoing external debt recovery efforts.

The agreement was signed by Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, and Mr. René Jakl, Director of the Claims and Recoveries Department at the Export Guarantee and Insurance Corporation (EGAP), on behalf of the Czech government.

Dr. Forson expressed Ghana’s profound appreciation to the Czech Republic for its continued cooperation and support throughout the debt restructuring process.

He noted that the partnership demonstrates the strong diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.

Mr. Jakl described the agreement as the start of “a new chapter” that he believes will pave the way for deeper collaboration and future support for Ghana.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Czech Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Pavel Bílek, alongside officials from the Ministry of Finance.
