Gov't clears four Director-Generals at SSNIT

The government has officially revoked the appointment of Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo as the Director-General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), marking another major leadership shake-up within the institution.
Sources confirm that the contracts of his three deputies have also been terminated.
The affected officials include:
Kwame Adu-Darkwa – Deputy Director-General, Finance and Administration Ms. Juliana Kpedekpo – Deputy Director-General, Operations and Benefits Nana Serwah Bonsu Amoako – Deputy Director-General, Investment and Development
However, no official replacements have been announced yet, as President John Dramani Mahama is expected to appoint a new Director-General and deputies in the coming days to ensure leadership continuity at SSNIT.
This latest decision follows a series of leadership changes within SSNIT in recent months.
In April 2024, former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo dismissed Dr. John Ofori Tenkorang as SSNIT’s Director-General and appointed Osafo-Maafo in his place.
Osafo-Maafo, the son of former presidential advisor Yaw Osafo-Maafo, took over SSNIT at a time of institutional restructuring.
His appointment also led to changes, including the reassignment of Pearl Nana Ama Darko, the then-deputy Director-General for Operations and Benefits, to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) as Commissioner for Support Services.
Her SSNIT role was subsequently taken over by Juliana Kpedekpo, whose tenure has now also ended following this latest decision.
The government’s decision to revoke these appointments is seen as part of efforts to restructure leadership at SSNIT.
